CIMENTART MICROCEMENT
CIMENTART - AQUA NATURE
DESCRIPTION
CIMENTART AQUA NATURE is a ready-to-use micro mineral, composed of fine minerals, polymers, aggregates, resins, colorants, and special waterproof additives, which is applied manually with steel trowel, both indoors and outdoors.
It is used as a decorative finish in thin layers, in floors, walls or ceilings, interior and exterior, to create a decorative effect, similar to a concrete or traditional cement.
Its application is relatively simple, and the finished thickness is 1 to 1.2 mm. It can be applied to most surfaces and substrates.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
· Micromineral-ready to use
· 100% WATERPROOF*
· Natural finish cement effect or polished concrete with 1.5 mm thickness
· High level of adherence over any type of surface.
· 90% less dust when sanding
· High level of resistance to abrasion
· Interior and exterior
· 20 different colors
· Self-tint using water-based tints
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
· The application is done by hand using a steel trowel with rounded corners.
· In floors, tile walls or areas where it is necessary to previously regulate the substrate, put on the CIMENTART FIBERGLASS MESH and apply the CIMENTART PRIMER.
· After dry, apply a layer of CIMENTART AQUA NATURE from 0.7 mm to 1 mm thick. The CIMENTART FIBERGLASS MESH and the joints must be completely covered.
· Any imperfection that may have remained, greater than 0.5 mm, should be sanded and the dust should be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and a cloth moistened with water.
· After this process, you can start the following application method.
APPLICATION PROCESS - ``FRESH ON FRESH SYSTEM``
Once we have a surface already regularized and completely smooth, the method of application is this: apply a layer of CIMENTART PRIMER. After this coat has dried, apply CIMENTART AQUA NATURE in a thin layer of 0.7 mm, exerting slight pressure with the trowel and covering a surface with two-coat thickness 1.5 m2 to 2 m2 maximum. Never apply thicknesses greater than 1 mm.
Immediately apply a second layer over the first layer. The first layer still fresh (without drying). This method of application we call fresh on fresh.
Lightly spray the last layer with water to make a completely smooth finish with the steel trowel. Do not over-compress.
The union of the first layer with the second layer will give a final application thickness of approximately 1.5 mm.
Continue with the next 16 ft2 to 20 ft2 in the same way, applying a layer and a second layer, always with fresh over fresh system.
Allow time to elapse until CIMENTART AQUA NATURE is completely dry, approximately 4 to 8 hrs. The drying time depends on the temperature, ventilation and humidity in the room.
Once completely dry the two layers applied with the fresh system on fresh, sand with 80 – 120 grit and vacuum the dust. In this final coat, never use a cloth moistened with water to remove dust.
The imperfections and / or marks of the trowel that have remained in the application, when sanded, will make appear some very aesthetic shadows and soft spots, similar to polished natural cement.
Once the CIMENTART AQUA NATURE is dry, sanded and vacuumed, apply a layer of CIMENTART SEALER and two layers of CIMENTART BI-COMPONENT POLYURETHANE.
CAUTIONS
· If you need to dilute the product with water to obtain a more fluid concrete for application, do not exceed a maximum of 5% dissolution.
· Never leave the last layer half done, once begun, continue until its completion without stoppages, so that you do not see imperfections or joints. If the surface is very large, the application must be made by several people at the same time.
· Once the application is finished, let it dry completely and allow at least 4 days to elapse, before applying any other coating and 7 days before moistening or wetting with water.
LIMITATIONS
· Not to be used over dimensionally unstable substrates that have not been regularized.
· NOT for applications with fully submersed water areas or standing water areas.
· Commercial applications should follow the IBC (International Building Codes) when product is specified.
· Do not apply with risk of frost or rainy weather. Do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC or above 35ºC.
· Proper substrate preparation is necessary to regularize surface (see “Surface Preparation”)
· Existing tiled surfaces whether floor/wall or ceiling ARE REQUIRED to be “regularized” with CimentArt base products such as Koncret Base or Aqua Base.
· Never apply product thicker than 1 mm per layer to ensure max hardness.
· Aqua Nature is waterproof however can be stained without CimentArt Sealer and CimentArt Bi-Component Polyurethane. ALWAYS seal and polyurethane Aqua Nature.
· Furniture legs placed on product SHOULD ALWAYS have felt pad coverings, no exceptions.
· Furniture legs with rigid, plastic leg protectors should always be REMOVED.
· Completely avoid dragging furniture, appliances or other objects or tools on a microcement floor.
· Never apply product on substrates that are wet, damp or have capillary moisture – ensure concrete slabs are cured to 5% or lower moisture level.
· Never apply product on concrete with hydrostatic pressure below it without a water-based, penetrative sealing of the slab with product of choice.
· Do not apply at temperatures below 41°F (5°C) or above 95°F (35°C)
· Use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect the eyes, face, and skin. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and consult your doctor.
· Do not put within reach of children.
CLEANUP
· Any tools using the Cimentart system can be cleaned with water and dish soap prior to the product on them hardening.
PACKAGING AND COVERAGE
Aqua Nature is available in 2 container sizes:
11lb or 5KG unit covers approx. 25 FT2
44lb or 20KG unit covers approx. 100 FT2
* Coverage is based on 2 coat applications, for example if you have 100 FT2 project you will need 1 unit of 44lb container. Efficiency decreases on rough surfaces.
Pro Tip: Nature can be applied “fresh on fresh” before first coat is dry at which point coverage increases as effectively 1.5 coats are applied, vs. the 2 standard coats.
TRANSPORTATION
Product merchandise is not considered dangerous or hazardous for transport. Aqueous base is free of solvents, alcohols or flammable products.
